Best laid plans

Yesterday, while carrying chairs down a flight of stairs for a workshop, I missed a step and came crashing down on my ankle. So it’s not the best timing that for the next week I shall be leading a movement and drawing workshop called ‘On Looking’ with my good friend Natasha Freedman at the National Gallery for AcrossRCA. These workshops tend to be pretty energetic and a mixture of collaborative drawing exercises mixed up with theatre exercises developed out of Natasha’s involvement with Complicite’s research and education programme.

In the outline, we specifically state that students don’t need to have any particular movement or acting skills to do our workshop. I’m just realising that if I want to shift my weight from heel to toe on a regular basis tomorrow without grimacing, I am going to need both.
