Recipient of Islington Exhibits Artist Awards 2012

I found out this week that I was awarded one of the four Islington Exhibits Artist Awards for 2012 and will be showing my drawn inventory in a solo exhibition this July in Islington.

Up to this point, I had, in the dark recesses of my mind, reconciled myself to the fact that there was little chance that I would ever show this inventory, which took over 3 years to make and numbers 154 drawings on approximately 25 square metres of brown parcel paper. I’m thrilled though as this will be the first time that the whole work will be seen together, even for me, and more so as part of the award includes mentoring from Fiona Parry, curator at Cubitt Gallery and support from Rowan Arts. Expect a great deal more about where the show will be and how it will be presented in the coming weeks but if you are in London around the 19th July, then save the date.

Islington Exhibits
is produced by Rowan Arts in partnership with Cubitt Education, Holloway Neighbourhood Group, Islington Arts Factory and St. Luke’s Centre and with support from Islington Council and Creative Islington. The winning artists are Ting-Ting Cheng, me, Charlotte Jonerheim and Katia Lom and were selected by a panel consisting of Daniel Baker, education director of Cubitt, Fiona Parry, curator at Cubitt, Jeremy Deller, artist and Ruth Robinson, director of Rowan Arts.
